Hannah has a Master’s Degree in music, specializing in performance in piano and violin. She obtained her degree from the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa. She writes about online music lessons.
In 1996 she immigrated to New Zealand and started her own music school: Allegro Music. She taught piano, violin, guitar, recorder and music theory.
Hannah has taught music for more than 20 years, and started off her teaching career teaching class music in primary school. She had various positions before progressing to High School where she ended up as Head of Department before starting her own music school.
In teaching others, Hannah believes in a step by step approach: When you master each step, before you know it, you grasp more complicated concepts, and you find yourself a master instead of a novice.
Now Hannah moved to the US, is retired, and as she enjoys writing, decided to do that full time. This blog is the result. She still teaches part time as she enjoys teaching. Little ones enjoy lessons with her. Big kids too – and adults. She has extensive experience teaching all age groups, and had good results with her students at competitions. She motivates each student to give their best.
Music is good for children and adults alike. It teaches you to focus, it teaches discipline, determination, and how to stick to something until you’ve mastered it. It teaches goal setting, and how to achieve goals, but above all, it teaches right brain skills. This is what you need to make you clever.
